The fume cupboard has an often, understated role in the modern laboratory. If the safety of the laboratory worker is taken seriously, the fume cupboard must be regularly maintained and its performance monitored to the highest standard.

The recommended requirements for routine test and maintenance depend on whether the fume cupboard is ducted to an outside location or if the fume cupboard recirculates air back into the laboratory.

Recirculatory fume cupboards are completely dependant on the efficiency of the installed filters. You may be surprised to learn that less than 40% of re-circulating fume cupboards have their filters tested. Simply replacing the filter annually does not mean it will perform safely.

With a network of over 200 educational clients across the UK, including 10 regional councils we can offer an unbeatable service.

We test fume cupboards to the requirements of Building Bulletin 88. Our standard service includes many checks that are often over looked. We inspect the sash mechanism, plumbing pipework, extract system and the testing of all services. Our test certificates are computer generated and are issued in a bound test report complete with detailed recommendations where relevant.

We offer maintenance contracts for 1, 2 or 3 year periods to help you budget more easily.


Filtered / Mobile Fume Cupboards

Tecomak is the only company currently offering an affordable filter saturation test that fully complies with Bulletin 88 Appendix B4. We have developed test apparatus that increases the accuracy of the test and reduces time, therefore saving you money.

Most fume cupboard manufacturers recommend you change the main carbon filter at least every 2 years. By carrying out this test, it is likely that such frequent filter replacements are not actually required. In the event that the filter fails the efficiency test we can supply replacements cheaper than most manufacturers.
