LOCAL EXHAUST
VENTILATION
Local
Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) is commonly used to control the
release of hazardous airborne substances from a process into
the workplace environment. The object of the LEV is to control
the emission at the point of release and prevent it from entering
the air of the workplace.
The service we offer ranges from consultancy through planning
to complete installation and staff training.
CUSTOM ENGINEERED SYSTEMS
We understand that the design of an LEV system is crucial
in the long-term safety of the workplace and the well-being
of those who work in them.
Fume
Control
Depending on the nature of the contaminant, systems controlling
fumes often require the use of special materials such as uPVC
and 316 grade stainless steel. Activated carbon filters maybe
employed to absorb toxic vapours, gases and radioactive isotopes
where discharge to atmosphere is not possible.
- Common solutions include
- Chemical storage facilities
- Laboratory bench & sink extracts
- Welding benches and booths
- Downdraft benches
- Dispensing / weighing stations
- Bench top extraction for soldering
Dust Control
The harmful effects of dust are at last being taken seriously.
All dust is harmful as particles that reach the lungs
obstruct the uptake of oxygen to the blood and can result
in serious injury. Dusty processes are widespread but
in all cases the basic principal is the same. Capture
the dust before it reaches the breathing zone and filter
it before releasing it again. |
