When it comes to your clean room environment, hydrogen peroxide decontamination, also known as vapourised hydrogen peroxide, or VHP decontamination, is one of the fastest and most effective methods of neutralising contaminants in a clean room setting or other environments where high levels of sterility are required.
Using the most technically advanced iHP or ionised Hydrogen Peroxide decontamination technology, Tecomak delivers a fast and effective decontamination process, whether you manage animal facilities and research labs, CL3 and CL4 Containment Laboratories, fermentation suites, hospital isolation and critical care areas, operating theatres, pharmaceutical cleanroom production areas or tissue culture labs and blood banks. And it can also be used for transport applications and for public facilities of all kinds.
Hydrogen Peroxide Decontamination – Tecomak offers hydrogen peroxide decontamination and VHP decontamination services across the industries.
How Ionised Hydrogen Peroxide Decontamination Works
Decontamination can be grouped into three different levels of effectiveness
Each level offers different tiers of sterility assurance, and this is counted in logs. Every log reduction represents a 90% reduction of non-pathogenic and pathogenic spores, fungi and viruses – the microbial population. So a two log (10-2) reduction brings sanitisation, a five log (10-5) reduction is disinfection, and a six log (10-6) reduction reduces microbial population to virtually zero – sterilisation.
One of the most environmentally friendly decontamination processes available, hydrogen peroxide has proven effectiveness in reducing biological microorganism contaminants to below detectable levels. In fact, offering six log (10-6) efficacy, iHP effectively sterilises your clean environment.
Destroying the surface structures of these microorganisms, including proteins, carbohydrates and lipids, a fine mist of hydrogen peroxide and isopropyl alcohol is passed through a cold plasma arc, ionising to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species.
Once ionised in this way, iHP acts as a gas rather than a vapour, making it lighter than traditional methods and offering excellent distribution properties. The act of ionisation positively charges the hydrogen peroxide particles, meaning that they repel each other and are attracted to all surfaces. This means that iHP can be used in the open air and in all room temperatures and humidity, and is effective at destroying microorganisms even in harder to reach areas.
The simultaneous cleansing effect of iHP means that the decontamination time is much shorter than other processes, allowing you to return to business as usual sooner. The efficacy of this VHP decontamination process is proven using stainless steel biological indicators populated with six log Geobacillus Stearothemophilus spores.
The Benefits of ionised Hydrogen Peroxide Decontamination
When it comes to the iHP decontamination process, the benefits are clear:
Low concentrations of Hydrogen Peroxide – With no noxious fumes, iHP is safe to transport and safe for operators to use, giving it a distinct advantage against other systems that use high concentrations that are potentially hazardous.
Fast acting formula – Ionised Hydrogen Peroxide decontamination reduces microbial contaminants to below detectable levels in minutes, killing bacteria, viruses, spores and fungi including MRSA and C Difficile. This fast decontamination service helps to minimise the downtime associated with contamination problems.
Breaks down quickly after use – Environmentally friendly, iHP leaves no residue and it breaks down into harmless components (oxygen and water), meaning that your space and your operations can be quickly restored to normal use.
Materials compatibility – As the iHP decontamination process does not damage room contents, including electronics, equipment does not have to be cleared prior to use, allowing faster overall times and ensuring that equipment gets decontaminated too.
The Efficacy of iHP Vapourised Hydrogen Peroxide VHP Decontamination
iHP works to eliminate all of the following biological organisms from your clean room environment, leaving you with fully cleansed, sterile conditions:
Aspergillus Sydowii Cladosporium
Cladosporiodes Type 1
Virus Bacteriophage P22 HT 105
And iHP is effective for use on a full range of surfaces found in clean room settings including ceramic tiles, filter paper, glass, hydrophobic microbial filter material and stainless steel.
