Safety cabinets are one of the most complex but essential tools to be found in any modern laboratory. They allow users to handle the most sensitive or hazardous of pathogens and chemicals in a safe, secure manner – but, because of the inherent risks involved, it’s essential that the cabinets are serviced and maintained to the highest of standards.

Tecomak Environmental Services provide safety cabinet testing in research labs, healthcare locations and pharmaceutical company laboratories. Here are five key reasons why you should choose us if your cabinet is due for a service.

Our Wide Expertise

Tecomak Environmental Services are highly experienced when it comes to carrying out tests on many different types of safety cabinets. This includes microbiological cabinets (Classes I, II and III), and asbestos, laminar flow and isolator cabinets.  We are happy to test and maintain your safety cabinets even if we haven’t installed them ourselves – and we can do this as well!

All our engineers are BOHS (British Occupational Hygiene Society) P601 and P604 qualified, so they have an excellent practical and theoretical understanding of best control practice for hazardous substances.  We try to ensure we send the same members of staff to your premises each time, so you are as familiar with them as they are with your equipment.

We Minimise Your Downtime

At Tecomak Environmental Services, we appreciate that research and healthcare labs cannot afford their safety cabinets to be out of action for any length of time. We always plan to carry out any testing and required maintenance at the same time. We are also willing to work outside regular lab hours to ensure that no user time is lost.

If your safety cabinet needs decontaminating as part of the test, we use vaporized hydrogen peroxide which is faster and more effective than many of the alternatives. It achieves a six-log reduction in the microbial population in a matter of minutes. The Phileas® Genius, which we also use and supply, is suitable for decontaminating the small areas and surfaces within a safety cabinet and has an extremely fast operating cycle.

We always keep a stock of standard spares so they can be quickly replaced if our testing highlights a need for replacement parts, such as filters. If it’s a non-standard item, we enjoy an excellent relationship with many of the manufacturers and suppliers, potentially saving you money as well as time.

Our Support Services

It’s not just the cabinets themselves we look after, but the whole range of associated equipment. Our mechanical and electrical engineering expertise means we can inspect and repair Local Exhaust Ventilation systems, PVC ductwork and fans, and a range of other items in your laboratories.

Our Comprehensive Records

Tecomak always provide clear, accurate reports on all the safety cabinets we maintain and test. These can be hard or soft copies – whichever you prefer. To guard against problems in the future, we can come up with a fault schedule, recommendations for action, and costings if you need them.

We will come up with a regular inspection schedule for all your cabinets and we will send you automatic notifications when the next service or test is due.
