Total Safety Protection for Cytotoxic Drug Handling

The S@feMate Cyto is a state of the art Class 2 Microbiological Safety Cabinet specifically designed to provide a safe working environment for handling cytotoxic drugs (sometimes known as antineoplastics).

The S@feMate Cyto Class 2 Safety Cabinet provides class leading operator and environmental protection, whilst also providing safety for the product by maintaining a Class 100 / ISO Class 5 working environment.

Safety for the Operator and the Environment

Operator protection is obtained thanks to the excellent containment efficiency of the front air barrier and the double filtration of the air discharged in the environment.

The S@feMate Cyto Microbiological Safety Cabinet has three HEPA H14 filters:

  • A primary exhaust filter below the work surface to ensure particulate contamination is collected at source keeping the cabinet’s air paths clean.
  • A downflow filter to provide ISO 5 / Class 100 air cleanliness to the working zone.
  • A second stage exhaust filter to ensure environmental protection is guaranteed.
Safety for the Product and the Patient

The sterility of the drugs is essential for the safety of the product and patient receiving the prepared drugs. The S@feMate Cyto provides ISO 5 / Class 100 air cleanliness inside the cabinet work area.

Safety for the Maintenance Engineer

Replacement of the primary exhaust HEPA filter (located under the work surface) is made safe thanks to a patented “bag-in/bag-out” system. This system enables changing of the filter without any risk of exposure to dangerous compounds for both the engineer and local environment.

The downflow and exhaust HEPA filters further process the air passing through the primary filter.

The HEPA filtered downflow air within the work chamber exceeds the required cleanliness class of ISO 5 (equivalent to Class 100) for the preparation of paranteral drugs. All recirculated air passes through at least 2 HEPA filters prior to exhaust to ensure safety of the local environment.

    4. Safety for the maintenance engineers: ‘bag in bag out’ procedure when changing the primary filter.
